Berlin ::: Day 3 ::: My Birthday

So I probably would have had a really lame birthday all by myself in Berlin. Despite the cool factor of being in Europe on my birthday, it's a sad state of affairs when you have to buy yourself your own birthday shot. Lucky for me, I met some good people that took care of all that for me.

In the morning, I met Pat, an Australian who was sharing the hostel room with me. We spent the day sightseeing. We saw Brandenburger Gate, Memorial to the the Murdered Jews of Europe (a very cool maze of giant concrete slabs), the Parliament building, and a few other things before returning to the hostel with 8 warm beers to drink.

After a good dinner in the cafe across the street, his friends Ben and Eric, a Kiwi and a Canadian, met up with us at the hostel. From there, I know we did a lot of drinking in a lot of bars. And we smoked a shisha, which is like a hookah with a kind of flavored tobacco. Beyond that, I can't really say.

Most memorable (albeit fuzzy) birthday I think I've ever had.

The original Budweiser.

Weak pull off the hookah. They kept making me laugh, though, so it was impossible.
