Vienna ::: Day 4 ::: Zentralfriedhof Cemetery and Schönbrunn Palace

Correction, the 3 middle-aged Indian men that I shared my dorm room with go to bed at 9pm. In fact, every time I entered the room, one of them has been napping, like they're on a rotating schedule or something. Who are these people and why do they sleep so much!?!

Yesterday, I went to the Zentralfriedhof Cemetery, where notable composers, such as Beethoven, Schubert and Strauss, are buried. Additionally, there is a  monument to Mozart, who had been buried in an unmarked mass-grave.

The cemetery is, I believe, the second largest in Europe. 2.5 million people are buried here, beginning in 1874. Compared to the Montmarte cemetery I visited in Paris, this one didn't have as grand of a feel. And there were no cats. It was good to make the pilgrimage to the gravesites of Vienna's most notable residents though.

Afterward, I got back on the subway and went across town to Schönbrunn Palace to walk around the gardens. The sun was coming out for pretty much the first time since I got to Vienna, and it made the yellow facade of the palace look brilliant and beautiful. The view of Vienna from the hilltop behind the palace made it well worth the climb.
